As most may not know, I was recently and unexpectedly furloughed from a job I loved—the bummer result of cuts at FEMA, DHS, and across the federal government. It felt like the toughest loss, mostly because it was with an amazing company I thought I might be with for the long haul. But like many turning points, it opened a door.
One answer, as it turns out, was something I started back in 2017 but never had the time to truly build: a consulting firm that Jason Houser and I own called Red Cedar Partners.

At Red Cedar, we help government, industry, private equity, nonprofits, and labor navigate the chaos of today’s #HomelandSecurity, #Cyber, #Immigration, and #Intel landscape. We have been blessed that Jason has been so busy with media interviews and managing several client projects since he departed #DHS and #ICE in 2023. Now, not only can I support him—it’s my chance to bring my own 20 years of experience in project management and communications to the table.
